Here is a list of the best dentists in Michigan, based on patient reviews, awards, and professional recognition: This list is not based on advertising or payment. Dentists cannot 'buy' their way onto my list.

These are dentists that I have become familiar with over the last 40 years, either by personal interaction, online, at Continuing Education courses, or by reputation.

They all have exceptional skills, and are experts in one or more fields. I would trust these dentists to work in my mouth without hesitation!

This list is not comprehensive, and I will be adding to it regularly.

Dr Michael Young DDS

Dr Young attended Michigan State University for his undergraduate studies in biology and graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1994.

He constantly improves his skills and knowledge, and takes a considerable amount of continuing education. He completed the continuum at the Kois Center for Advanced Dental Learning, and has been a mentor there since 2005. He also completed a mini-residency in dental implants from Nobel Biocare in 2008 and taken many advanced courses on oral surgery and bone grafting.

Dr. Young is a big proponent of 3D dentistry, and is certified for InstaRisa, a 3D facial scanner used for implant and restoration planning. He has presented numerous courses and webinars on the subject.

Dr Joseph Samona DDS

Dr Samona graduated at the top of his class at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. During his time there, he received an award for implant dentistry, and another for his research into oral health education for the deaf and hard of hearing populations.

He also went to one of the best Advanced Education in General Dentistry programs in the country at UT Health San Antonio and received training for IV sedation, cosmetic dentistry, implant placement and restoration, full mouth reconstruction, gum surgery, and Invisalign.
